Did You Know that Your Cervical X-ray Reveals Significant Information About Your Health?

When your cervical spine is not in proper position it can negatively effect the function of your body because it compresses and chokes the brainstem. The brainstem is at the base of the brain and the top of the spinal cord. All the motor and sensory neurons must travel through the brainstem. Not only does the brainstem control the flow of messages between the brain and the rest of the body, It also controls all bodily functions, such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, circulation, metabolism, sugar levels, the hormone system and the immune system. That is why it is so important not to have any pressure on the brainstem choking off life expression.

One way to tell if there is compression is by evaluating the angle of the first vertebrae known as C1 on an x-ray. By using very specific markings, the C1 angle can be determined. If the angle is anything less than 31 degrees, the function of the brainstem will be severely compromised. Specific markings are also used to determine the angle of the cervical curve. The normal curve angle should be 42 degrees. Anything less than that causes streching and compressing of the spinal cord which can lead to a myriad of health problems. The only way to know how your angles measure up is to have an x-ray taken. It gives you great insight into your health and well being.

The brain stem makes the upper cervical area one of the richest areas of nerves in the body, and therefore, one of the most vulnerable areas as well. There is a very unique relationship between C1 and C2 in that even the slightest misalignment can produce profound effects on the entire nervous system below. That is why we concentrate on maintaining the integrity of the upper cervical bones, because if they lose their integrity, the other regions of the spine must compensate, wreaking havoc to the entire nervous system.

Misalignments in the upper cervical region can lead to a myriad of conditions in all areas of the body. Some of these conditions include high blood pressure, migraines, vertigo, carpal tunnel, acid reflex, digestive issues, low back pain, hormone imbalance, auto immune problems, insomnia, anxiety, depression and many, many more. Upper cervical care is a gentle, non-invasive way to remove the interference to the brain stem and restore normal balance to the entire body. When the interference is removed, your body has no other choice but to be healthier.
